Why are schools so stressful?

There are many reasons why school can be stressful, including:

  1. Upcoming tests
  2. Too much homework
  3. Lack of organizational skill
  4. Classes that are too hard, etc.

However, we are missing the most crucial reason. The real reason is that people do not know how to distinguish between "learning as a task" and "knowing the method of how to learn."

Learning tasks vs. learning how to learn.

The following is an illustration: Does an employer put an employee on the job line without training them first? Certainly not! Suppose such a thing happened. Imagine the stress this employee would feel. Exactly. Here's the same situation but with a different roleplay. Your child will be the character. You tell your underage child to drive a car. Your child will reply, “Why?” You respond, “You have to, or because I told you.” Unbelievable, right? Change the driving task to going to school. You say to your child, “Now, you need to go to school and start learning.” Your child will reply, “Why?” You respond, “You have to, or because I told you to.” What do you think? This is the same case, isn’t it? It happens all the time, everywhere. Exactly.

First and foremost, we never teach them how to drive or learn; instead, we tell them to drive a car or go to school to start learning. Isn't this absurd? How can people not realize the severity of this problem?

The learning process is so complex that modern science cannot explain it clearly.

There is a very crucial reason. The learning process is so complex that modern science hasn’t researched enough to give precise answers to the public. It isn’t anyone’s fault. To understand the process of learning, we need to know many concepts such as…

The consciousness of self.
Condition of brain activity.
The stream of thought.
Conception.
Attention.
The perception of time, space, things, and reality.
The emotion.
Mystery of memory.
Sensation.
Reasoning ability.
Etc.

Now you may see how enormous a task this is. That is why we as the human race need to admit that we don’t know how to learn yet. That is why not many people are aware of this problem and talk about it as an issue.

The real reason is that people do not know how to distinguish between "learning as a task" and "knowing the method of learning." Humans use tools for anything they do. Imagine working without tools. How complicated and stressful would that be? Besides that, better tools make a massive difference in productivity. Therefore, “to do a learning task,” everyone needs tools for “how to learn.” Without tools, you will be highly stressed.

“Do you know how to learn?” Or “Do you know how to learn well?”

The next question we should ask is, “Do we know how to learn?” Ordinary people will say “yes.” But, let’s ask the next question, “Do you know how to learn well?” Most likely, “No.” The fundamental problem is that everyone is under the illusion that they know how to learn. The learning process is highly complicated. School is stressful because of this. On the other hand, humans can perform many difficult jobs daily without much stress. Why? Because they have been trained to do so. That is the case! The critical question is, “How much horsepower do you have in your learning method?” Would you be interested in increasing your horsepower in learning abilities?

Learning how to learn is like having the right tool for the task of learning.

Schooling doesn't have to be stressful if your child learns how to learn. No one can do a job well without having access to and using the right tool(s).  School is no exception. Are you interested in helping your child learn how to learn? I am certain you are.
