Stretching for Taekwondo

Flexibility can come from 3 different areas.
1) Inherited
2) Diet
3) Exercise

We’ll skip the first two and move on to the 3rd topic.

What is stretching and what makes things stretchable?

Stretching is expanding and heat makes things stretch. Cold makes things contract.

Therefore your body temperature needs to be up. That is the best time to stretch and how to get the best results.

You need to stretch 2 parts of your body.
1) Muscle
2) Ligament

Muscles heat up quickly.

Ligaments take a lot longer to heat up (60 to 90 minutes).

When you expand your muscle you need to breathe out and hold the position for longer than 8 seconds.
